Berklee College of Music and Target present the 10th Annual Berklee Beantown Jazz Festival, traditionally drawing in visitors from all over New England to experience performances from 30 acts at various Boston and area venues, during a span of 10 full days. This year's Boston Jazz Festival will pay tribute to the music and culture of New Orleans, post Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
The Berklee Beantown Jazz Festival will take place from September 15th-25th and will feature a collection of local acts as well as artists who have achieved international recognition. Prices will vary by show; some will be free. Additionally, on the final day, Saturday, September 25th, the festival will take over six blocks in Boston's South End neighborhood from Noon to 6pm for a free outdoor festival, which will be suitable for all ages. Last year this final festival event attracted up to 80,000 visitors.

Members of the public are invited to Forest Hills in Jamaica Plain to celebrate the memories of their loved ones who have passed. The annual Lantern Festival is a tradition based on the Japanese Bon Festival, where visitor decorate paper lanterns with calligraphy and messages for their dead loved ones and at sunset, send them afloat in a small lake. Thousands gather to participate in this festival every year and with all of the candle lit lanterns set adrift at once, the sight is sure to be both breathtaking and emotional. The Lantern Festival at Forest Hills will also offer multi-cultural dance and music entertainment.
Admission to the festival is free with a requested $10 donation per lantern. Picnic and blankets as well as mosquito repellent and flashlights are encouraged. For more information or directions to Forest Hills Cemetery, visit foresthillstrust.org.

The beer scene in Boston Metro and areas beyond is *hopping* with activity this summer. If you enjoy drinking beer and especially if you appreciate quality craft beer, the following few months present many opportunities to experience and learn about this great beverage.

The Harpoon Summer Session is an annual two day beer festival by Harpoon Brewery featuring local Boston bands, DJs and a variety of beers by Harpoon and UFO, including Harpoon's newest beer, Harpoon Belgian Pale Ale. The outdoor event is scheduled to occur Rain OR Shine on Friday, June 4th from 5:30pm to 11pm and Saturday, June 5th from 3pm to 11pm. Your $20 cover charge will get you in the door and get you one drink ticket for your choice of beers to drink from your free pint sized beer tasting cup. To get to Harpoon Brewery by public transportation, take the Silverline SL2 or SL3 from South Station to the Harbor Street Stop. It will pick partygoers up at regular intervals on Summer Street near South Station, behind the Federal Reserve and along the Fort Point Channel. There will be signs.

For the 10 consecutive days from Friday, June 11 through Sunday, June 20, participating pubs, restaurants and/or breweries within and beyond the Boston Metro Area will be offering promotions and beer specials in celebration of the craft beer scene in Boston.
Any venue hosting a beer event can take advantage of this chance to add a free listing on the official Boston Beer Week website. Beer drinkers in Boston as well as any neighborhood or city within the 128- Belt are encouraged to check this site regularly to see the various beer drinking events available, as organized by date. Julio's Spring Beer Fest- May 23

The 8th Annual Spring Beer Fest will bring together 50 breweries and 200 different beers available for tasting. The beer drinking festival will take place at Julio's Liquors on Sunday,May 23rd from 1pm to 4pm. Brewer Charlie Ireland will also be present to answer questions about and help celebrate the unleashing of the new beer, RY(E)AN Ale, which was created by Smuttynose Brewery exclusively for Julio's. The unique Smuttynose RY(E)AN beer is an 8% Red Rye Ale aged in Sazarec rye whiskey, Buffalo Trace bourbon, and Four Roses bourbon barrels. Harpoon Summer Session Beer Festival- June 4 & June 5

The Harpoon Summer Session is an annual two day beer festival by Harpoon Brewery featuring local Boston bands, DJs and a variety of beers by Harpoon and UFO, including Harpoon's newest beer, Harpoon Belgian Pale Ale. The outdoor event is scheduled to occur Rain OR Shine on Friday, June 4th from 5:30pm to 11pm and Saturday, June 5th from 3pm to 11pm. Your $20 cover charge will get you in the door and get you one drink ticket for your choice of beers to drink from your free pint sized beer tasting cup. All additional beers will be offered at $5.00 a pint. For more information call 1-888-HAR-POON ext 3. Hint: All designated drivers will receive free non-alcoholic beverages. To get to Harpoon Brewery by public transportation, take the Silverline SL2 or SL3 from South Station to the Harbor Street Stop. There will also be a Free Shuttle to the Harpoon Summer Session Beer Festival. It will pick partygoers up at regular intervals on Summer Street near South Station, behind the Federal Reserve and along the Fort Point Channel. There will be signs.
Boston Beer Week- June 11 through June 20

Beer Advocate and Boston's Weekly Dig present Boston Beer Week 2010. For the 10 consecutive days from Friday, June 11 through Sunday, June 20, participating pubs, restaurants and/or breweries within and beyond the Boston Metro Area will be offering promotions and beer specials in celebration of the craft beer scene in Boston.
Any venue hosting a beer event can take advantage of this chance to add a free listing on the official Boston Beer Week website. Beer drinkers in Boston as well as any neighborhood or city within the 128- Belt are encouraged to check this site regularly to see the various beer drinking events available, as organized by date. Hint: Beer Advocate promises a Boston Beer Week Pub Crawl, currently scheduled for June 12th. Details have not yet been determined but check the event list for June 12th Boston Beer Week for updates.
St. Botolph's Day Pub Crawl- June 17

June 17th is the day of Saxon Saint, Botolph, whose name the word "Boston" is said to be derived from. Rumors from credible sources say that Dann and Marsha with the Pretty Things Beer and Ale Project are hosting a pub crawl beer drinking event in Boston.
