During the weekend of September 10-12, Franklin Park Zoo will offer special activities to celebrate the upcoming birth of a new gorilla to expectant mother, Kiki. The Tropical Rainforest, which is where the gorilla family lives, will be fully decorated for the baby shower; visitors can also look forward to baby themed treats. Anyone who brings a gift for Kiki will receive discounted admission. Gifts will be donated to Room to Grow, a charity for needy families with newborn children. The festival will take place in Spy Pond Park in Arlington and will include live music, arts and crafts, poetry, performances, and a chance to volunteer a little time to keep the park beautiful. Please note that some of the activities may cost money, the funds of which will be donated to the Friends of Spy Pond Park. The park is located along the eastern shore of Spy Pond, about a block west of Massachusetts Avenue between East Arlington and Arlington Center.

The Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology presents MusicFest! 2010, a family friendly music concert event to raise funds for the students in the college who need financial aid, which is apparently, 81% of them. The show will feature live local bands, Kingsley Flood and Liptease, who will be competing for the audience's vote to win recording time to further their career. Musicfest! Live will also offer activities for children.

The Armenian Festival in Watertown has become a huge open air event, with live music, authentic food and more activities designed to celebrate the Armenian history and culture. The Coolidge Corner Theatre, as part of the Europe's Grand Operas program, will feature Verdi's AIDA,, as seen at the 2009 Bregenz Festival in Austria, where it was produced in the middle of a lake. Brazilian Independence Day Festival

The outdoor festival to celebrate Brazilian Independence Day will offer a fun filled day with numerous activities suitable for adults as well as children. There will be ethnic foods, info and resources booths, face painting, pony rides, live dance and music entertainment and more. The festival will kickoff at noon with a performance of the Brazilian National Anthem by Daniela Speziale and a parade with Marcus Santos and AfroBrazil. New England Revolution star, Brazilian Roberto "Betu" Linck also plans to be present at the festival for a special meet and greet.

Love Story, based on the best-selling novel (Arthur Hiller), won an Academy Award for Best Original Music and includes scenes from Cambridge, South Hamilton and Harvard University.

The New England Dessert Showcase produced by The Anthem Group will bring some of the finest food experts and establishments together to showcase some of their best desserts. The Museum of Science presents College Night, an opportunity for students with a valid college ID to explore the Exhibit Halls free of charge. The special evening event will also include Omni and 3-D Digital Cinema Shows, Theater of Electricity demos, stargazing at the Gilliland Observatory, hot and cold experiments in the Suit/Cabot Lab, live presentations, and a raffle. Boston Public Library presents a free screening of Good Will Hunting for the September "Back to School" theme for the Made in Massachusetts free film series year-long program. Good Will Hunting won Oscars for Best Supporting Actor and Best Screenplay and was written by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, who also star in the film.
