On May 8, Belmont United Methodist Church will host their annual May Fair, a flea market type of event with lots of homemade products, jewelry and other various knick knacks and goods available to browse and purchase. The May Fair is free to enter and donations will be accepted to go toward the Belmont Food Pantry.

The Puerto Rican/Argentine band, Sol Y Canto, will give a special concert in honor of Mothers Day on Mothers Day Eve, May 8, at The Charles Hotel Regattabar making it a 3rd Annual event. The past two years shows have sold out. The family band will perform a lineup of Latin American Classics. You can expect to hear the Salsa style Mothers Day song called Madre and Blue Skies, which will be sung by the 14 year old twin girls of the band, along with many many more great songs that the whole family can enjoy. The Harvard Film Archive will show a screening of Additions and Subtractions (Medellin: sumas y restas), a film portraying the Colombian drug trade during the 1980s and its effect on the middle class. The film was directed by Victor Gaviria, who will make a special appearance at the May 8th screening.

Check out 250 Fresh Pond Parkway and experience Fire Dept., Paramedic and Dive Team demonstrations, interactive art displays, the Fresh Pond Scavenger Hunt, tours of the Water Treatment Plant and Native Plant Garden, Lusitania Wildlife Tours, and lots more. Or visit Maher Park at 650 Concord Ave. for Butterfly Meadow Nature Walks, an interactive storywalk for kids, beekeeping display, and a musical performance at 12:30pm.
