Brought to you by A.R.T. American Repertory Theater, Huntington Theatre Company and Institute of Contemporary Art Boston, the Emerging America 3-day festival will showcase the latest work in American Contemporary Theater. For details, refer to the
Schedules of Events, which vary by day and are distributed among three Boston and Cambridge performance venues. A kickoff festival, parade and party is planned for Sunday, May 2 to coincide with Harvard Business Association's annual Mayfair Event.


SoWa Art Walk

The South of Washington Street area (aka SoWa) of the South End in Boston will hold its annual Spring Art Walk on the weekend of the 15th of May. Between the hours of 11am and 6pm, the public is invited (and encouraged!) to visit artists in their studios while strolling admidst the many cafes, boutiques and restaurants also celebrating the Art Walk event.

If you enjoy browsing unique artistic creations by local artists, the SoWa Open Market can be your Sunday afternoon delight. Every Sunday from May 16 through October between 10am and 4pm, the South End's SoWa neighborhood presents live music, fresh food and produce markets, and tent after tent of photographers, painters, potters, glass artists, jewelry designers, etc with great items to sell. Note that the
SoWa Sundays Open Market has moved to 460 Harrison Avenue, just down the street from its previous location.


Birds and Bards Festival Family Concert

As part of the Birds and Bards Festival, the Solar Winds Quintet will perform the Peter and the Wolf Folk Tale as it was set to music by Sergei Prokovief. The flute, oboe, clarinet and french horn will accompany a narration of the tale.


Horticultural Walking Tour of Forest Hills Cemetery

Historian Anthony Sammarco will lead a tour of the Forest Hills Cemetery grounds exploring the fruits, trees and flower creations by 19th Century Boston Horticulturists, aka "Experimental Gardeners". You will also get to taste some of the foods their efforts have resulted in such as Bartlett's Pear and Downer's Late Cherry. The walk will start at the Main Gate and will run about 2 hours. Visitors are advised to bring comfortable shoes and water. This tour will take place as part of the Weekend Birds and Bards Festival.
