Boston Sailing Center is offering free sailing trips for sailors of all levels during its two day open house. Members of the public are invited to learn about the various sailing programs the center has to offer while relaxing on a 24 to 40 ft. sailboat as a sailing center staff demonstrates how its done. Over 300 artists living and working in Somerville will welcome the public into their homes, work studios and galleries where their artwork will be available to view and purchase. This 2 day event will make the annual Somerville Open Studios event 12 years old. Types of artwork on display will include photography, painting, printmaking, sculpture, jewelry and more. The annual Mayfair Festival will bring art, entertainment and food to six streets in Harvard Square: JFK Street, Brattle Street, Mass. Ave, Church St. and Eliot Street Triangle. MassWildlife and the Brookline Recreation Department are giving you and your family access to the Brookline Reservoir where along with fishing instruction you can learn things like safety, ethics and the equipment required for the sport. All ages and levels of experience are invited to participate. Fishing equipment and bait will be available but only in a limited quantity so you are encouraged to bring your own if you have it. Moon of Big Digits hip hop group of Boston, will be at the store promoting his latest book "Hip & Hop Don't Stop", a feel good story that uses a rap battle between a turtle and a rabbit to teach a lesson about friendship.

For this Family Connects Workshop with Boston Center for the Arts Dance Resident Artist, Anikai Dance, children will be introduced to dance forms such as Brazillian Capoeira and Indian Bharata Natyam. This workshop is free but space is limited so be sure to call ahead to make sure there will be a spot open for your child. There will be a free performance of this style of dance following the workshop at 3pm.

Local Naturalist and Author, Pam Kristan, will lead a tour of Franklin Park focused on the various plants that offer medicinal or nutritional benefits. Learn about and discover new plants to use for cooking and bring a trowel and bag if you are interested in harvesting.
