MassWildlife and the Brookline Recreation Department are giving you and your family access to the Brookline Reservoir where along with fishing instruction you can learn things like safety, ethics and the equipment required for the sport. All ages and levels of experience are invited to participate. Fishing equipment and bait will be available but only in a limited quantity so you are encouraged to bring your own if you have it. Every Spring the Return of Boston's famous and beloved swans (Romeo and Juliet) makes for quite an occasion. This year is no exception. On May 4, Mayor Thomas M. Menino, Boston Parks Commissioner Antonia Pollak, and Four Seasons Hotel Boston General Manager Bill Taylor will lead a celebration in the Public Garden to welcome the swans back to their "lagoon". Festivities will be offered in the form of a brass band, face painting and food vendors offering refreshments and free samples. There will also be a parade beginning at 11:30am at the conrer of Beacon St. and Charles St. by the Make Way For Ducklings statue.

Ducklings Day Childrens Parade

Children of all ages are invited to the Boston Public Garden to take part in a celebration of the Childrens Book Classic, "Make Way for Ducklings" by Robert McCloskey. The Harvard University Marching Band will lead the kids, who are encouraged to dress up as their favorite ducky characters, in a parade in which they retrace the steps of the ducks as told in the book. The parade will begin at noon but get there as early as 10:30am to pre-register and enjoy the entertainment. The meeting place is on the Boston Common at the base of the Shaw Memorial below the State House. May 22nd is Teddy Bear Check-Up Day at Stone Zoo. Kids are invited to bring in their teddy bear for a check up by Zoo Staff. The day will also include a parade your child and teddy bear can partake in as well as two presentations of the Keeper Encounters Show featuring Stone Zoo's black bears, Smoky and Bubba (at 11:30am and 1:30pm). As if that weren't enough there will also be a Moovin' and Groovin' Interactive Concert from 12:30pm to 1:30pm with Special Guest, Su Eaton.
