Every Spring the Return of Boston's famous and beloved swans (Romeo and Juliet) makes for quite an occasion. This year is no exception. On May 4, Mayor Thomas M. Menino, Boston Parks Commissioner Antonia Pollak, and Four Seasons Hotel Boston General Manager Bill Taylor will lead a celebration in the Public Garden to welcome the swans back to their "lagoon". Festivities will be offered in the form of a brass band, face painting and food vendors offering refreshments and free samples. There will also be a parade beginning at 11:30am at the corner of Beacon St. and Charles St. by the Make Way For Ducklings statue.

Science by the Pint on May 4 will be led by Christopher Stubbs Chair, department of Physics, Harvard University.Check the Science in the News website for updated details about the event.

Science in the News (SITN) presents "Science by the Pint" as part of the nationwide Science Cafes Project. Science Cafes are taking place all over the world as an effort to encourage open discussions between scientists and non-scientists on scientific and social issues. Each Science by the Pint event will welcome a researcher to discuss topics in his or her fields of specialty. It is the hope of the Science Cafes that the events will be interactive with audience participation as opposed to the traditional lecture or seminar one-way conversation by an expert.
